African-American Women CAN Beat Breast Cancer - Free Video

An award-winning video that educates African-American women about reducing their risk of breast cancer is now available through a joint effort of NBC-10 Philadelphia and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG). "African-American Women CAN Beat Breast Cancer" features cancer patients, African-American physicians including renowned Thomas Jefferson University oncologist Dr. Edith Mitchell and the Bright Hope Baptist Church Choir.
The 22-minute program highlights the importance of regular mammograms, breast self-examination and participation in clinical trials such as STAR (Study of Tamoxifen and Raloxifine). STAR is designed to determine whether the osteoporosis treatment drug raloxifine (Evista) is as effective as tamoxifen (Nolvadex) in reducing breast cancer risk.
